Keepin' it Spicy in the Kitchen

In my humble little mid-century home, it would be an understatement to say that kitchen storage is an issue.  So I have had to get creative when it comes to budget/toddler friendly storage solutions.

One thing that I have done to help save space in my kitchen is to hang a shoe organizer (I just happened to have mine laying around but you can find them at target or anywhere) on my pantry door to function as a spice rack.

I never really thought much of this when I first did it, I was just using what I had at my disposal to make things work when we first moved in.  But it has worked out beautifully for me, and almost everyone who sees this seems to think it's ingenious- so I thought I might pass it along - might be a helpful tip to those of you who are counter and cabinet space challenged like myself.

If you had time, you could even get creative, adding labels to the slots, cute paper backing etc.
I know my pantry isn't exactly the picture of perfection, but hey, everything is put away and at this stage in my life, that is good enough for me :)

  1. Hi Annie,
I love your spice storage idea. Clever! I hope you are enjoying the intro into Autumn. Things are cooling off here and fall is in the air. Hope you and the family are doing well. Paula R.

  4. =) This is awesome! I live on the first level of an old Victorian home and we have the very same storage issue. Only thing is, what was once the pantry is now the bathroom, soo we don't have anywhere to hang spices like you do. =) We actually have them on shelves above the stove. But I still think your idea is great!

  5. Ahh I love this! It always take me so long to search though my spices.

  6. Hi Annie! Just came across your blog from a mommy blog directory and had to say hi. Your girls are adorable and so is your blog. This is a wonderful ice for spices and other small containers that I might just have to steal it. Feel free to stop by sometime!

  7. nice idea!! i need to cook with spices more:) maybe this would help me!! thanks for sharing.

following now from the flock together hop!!
